Job Description:
Southwestern University seeks candidates for the position of
Program Coordinator for Student Retention and Success. The Program
Coordinator has responsibility for supporting student retention and
success initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Advising
and Retention (supervisor) and the National Science Foundation
(NSF) S-STEM Program Director. This is a full-time, 12-month,
in-person position that is eligible for benefits. Primary Duties
include, but are not limited to: Assist with strategic plan
initiatives for retention programs, specifically those geared at
historically underrepresented students. Provide administrative and
organizational support for NSF S-STEM programming, other retention
programs with a cohort model, and Office of Advising and Retention
(OAR) events and initiatives. Coordinate the assessment and
evaluation of retention programs and S-STEM initiatives. Work with
the S-STEM Program Director and/or Director of Advising and
Retention to write, edit, produce and disseminate documents and
websites that inform the community about OAR and S-STEM programs
and opportunities. Assist the S-STEM Program Director in managing
budgets and tracking expenditures. Conduct research on best
practices related to advising, retention, and student success.
Collaborate with departments on campus to advance advising and
retention efforts. Additional Duties: Respond to online, telephone
and walk-in requests from alumni, parents, and members of the
campus community. Collaborate with colleagues in the Center for
Academic Success and the Registrar---s Office on special projects
as needed. Oversee student workers who are providing additional
support on S-STEM grant-related activities. Perform other duties as
assigned. Position Requirements: Bachelor---s degree from an
accredited college or university. Relevant experience, preferably
in a higher education setting. Skills to manage and execute events
and program planning. Ability to adjust to fluctuating priorities,
and effectively prioritize work. High level of energy, ambition,
and orientation toward details. Excellent interaction and
communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to work
effectively in a team, particularly in groups comprised of
individuals from different backgrounds. Knowledge, understanding,
and acceptance of cultural differences and diversity. Professional
manner with all internal and external University constituents.
Ability to attend work consistently in Georgetown, Texas with
occasional evening or weekend work. General computer proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications: Attained or currently seeking a graduate
degree in higher education. Experience with web page content and
management. Experience in a related position utilizing customer
service skills. Experience in research and data analysis.
