Job Description:

JOB SUMMARYWorks--within the objectives and policies established by the Imaging Department,--performs Radiology and other related procedures to produce high quality--diagnostic images for continued patient care, which will aid physicians in the--diagnosis and treatment of their patients.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Verify type of exam and prepare exam room for procedures in advance. Confirm patient's identity and explain procedure to them prior to performing the exam. Transport patient to and from radiology department. Position & immobilize patient according to guidelines. Select proper cassette size. Insure all images are properly identified and all records are properly filed. Provide proper use of radiation protection by all personnel, patients, and self in --accordance--with the facility and governmental safety standards. Process films according to processing criteria and prepare them for radiologist. Review film for proper positioning, technique, and identification. Adjust technical--factors--as needed while minimizing radiation exposure. Demonstrate working knowledge of all radiographic equipment. Perform and/or assist with images taken in other areas of LRHS with portable and C-Arm when applicable. Accurately log patient exams, to include the FGI Dose Log. Complete and process radiological charges. Comprehends the full function of performing radiographic examinations' utilizing the PACS and EMR systems. Analyzes data following case flow and priority while assessing patient condition versus procedural needs. Responsible for verifying that the patient identifiers are correct in the electronic medical record, prior to the study being performed. Responsible for documenting and maintaining the patient's electronic medical record.--The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve--as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this--classification. Incumbent(s) may not be required to--perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific--duties.ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES Possess the ability to learn and perform various examinations within the department. Perform secretarial duties. Assist in care and maintenance of the department. Restore rooms and work areas--with supplies.--Keep department clean and neat. Demonstrate a positive and cooperative attitude by working effectively with others.-- Project a positive public image towards patients, visitors, and fellow employees--through--a courteous, respectful and cooperative behavior. Demonstrate awareness and appreciation for effective safety practices, adhere to --department--safety standards. Demonstrate awareness--and understanding of infectiousdisease--control practices, and adhere to department and LRHS infectious diseasepolicies and--procedures. Demonstrate awareness and appreciation to all LRHS and department policies and--procedures,--rules and regulations. Demonstrate a complete understanding of LRHS disaster, fire, and safety rules. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and knowledge about other employees--gained through position within LRHS. Demonstrate dependability on the job and be on time and ready to work. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Attend staff meetings when requested and participate in committees as directed. Maintain CE hours to keep in compliance with ARRT. Participate in public relation activities as requested.--EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology and/or licensed by the ARRT (or registry eligible). Current and Valid State License. Current BLS--WORKING CONDITION AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES Standing and walking for most of the shift. Bending and stooping. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Moving patients from chair to bed and back. Ability to focus on details. Must be able to communicate with staff. Must be able to work well under stressful situations. Subject to electrical, chemical, and radiation energy hazards. Work with patients of all ages. Works with and around hazardous and biohazard materials.--KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES(Possesses skills and knowledge in the following areas) Reading comprehension Controlling operation of radiology equipment Basic computer skills Communication skills Active listening ALARA Radiation Protection Radiation Physics Patient Care
