About The Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery The
Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at The Dell
Medical School works to provide exceptional cardiovascular and
thoracic care in Central Texas and beyond. Through collaborative
research across The University of Texas at Austin and training
programs that empower aspiring surgeons, the department strives to
define the future of cardiovascular care. The faculty includes
board-certified surgeons and national leaders in surgeons who treat
a wide range of complex heart and vascular diseases. About the
Cardiothoracic Surgeon Position The Dell Medical School at the
University of Texas at Austin, in partnership with Ascension Texas,
is seeking a skilled and dedicated Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join
the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. Faculty in
the division will be members of the Institute for Cardiovascular
Health, representing an integrated heart care model. Eligible
applicants will be fellowship trained and board certified (or board
eligible within five years of completion of fellowship) in
cardiothoracic surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
We seek individuals with excellent clinical skills, a passion for
education, the potential for scholarly contributions, and a
commitment to excellence to join a dynamic department in an
innovative, growing medical school. Essential Functions : Provision
of clinical care to patients with cardiovascular disease as part of
a multidisciplinary cardiovascular and thoracic surgical team
Medical student and resident education Participation in clinical,
health services, translational or basic science research. The
successful candidate will be an integral part of a
multidisciplinary team with a passion for quality, innovation, and
teamwork that will incorporate opportunities to train and mentor
medical students and residents, as well as develop and foster an
atmosphere of scientific and academic inquiry. Actively participate
in the academic department by all required departmental policies.

aspects of medical education, clinical, research, and community

Required Qualifications Medical degree from an accredited medical
school; Meets applicable credentialing and privileging standards
for their specialty; Unrestricted license to practice medicine in
the State of Texas (or the ability to obtain before appointment);
Eligible applicants will be fellowship-trained and board certified
(or board eligible within five years of completion of fellowship)
by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery Eligible for a faculty
appointment at the University of Texas Dell Medical School. Ability
to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic environment;
Outstanding clinical teaching skills; Innovative self-starter with
a commitment to excellence; Excellent communication,
problem-solving, and organizational skills; Eligible for
appointment as an Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank in the
Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Dell Medical
School at UT Austin. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing
and delivering care through a multidisciplinary team; Familiarity
and experience with value-based healthcare payment and delivery
models; Proven track record of academic accomplishment Interest in
minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery
