Job Description:
Responsible for the medical care of LSCC patients by providing
comprehensive out-patient eye and vision care. Providers are
responsible for upholding the values and mission statement of LSCC
and will conduct themselves as senior level, full time professional
employees of the organization. Under the direction of the Chief
Medical Officer, delivers ophthalmic care commensurate with
training to patients of LSCC. Delivers care appropriate for an
out-patient, primary care community health center with
multicultural, multilingual patient population.* Full time
employment assumes 40 hours per week clinical time. Occasional
evening clinic hours and weekend clinic hours are expected.*
Examines diagnoses and treats appropriate patients of all ages.*
Acts as a consultant on all ophthalmic cases referred by other
staff providers of LSCC.* From time to time, provides in-service
training for staff in selected topics in eye/vision care as deemed
necessary by the Chief Medical Officer.* Completes medical charts
after each visit in the electronic medical records system.* Assure
high quality educational experience for optometry students, interns
and other individuals in a training role.* Assists in internal
quality control audits.* Provides quality medical care according to
standards established by LSCC.* Applies for and obtains privileges
at community hospitals in the area as recommended/required by
LSCC.* Will be available, if necessary, to participate in providing
continuity of care including hospital in-patient management.*
Attends internal and external meetings, workshops, and conferences,
and participates on task forces or committees, as necessary and/or
required by LSCC.* Performs all duties and services in full
compliance with LSCCs Quality Standards.* Actively monitor
productivity.* Meet or exceed budgeted provider encounter targets.*
Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by Chief Medical
Officer.* Must be in possession of a valid license to practice
optometry in the State of Texas, current DPS and DEA certificates.*
Must have no current or pending findings that restrict the
providers ability to participate fully in CMMS services.* Have a
thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of optometry and
allied services commensurate with his/her training.* Demonstrate a
special interest in the area of community medicine.* Ability to
speak enough Spanish to examine Spanish-speaking patients and
converse on basic level strongly preferred.* Ability to relate to
culturally diverse patients and community.Job Type: Full-timePay:
