Job Description:
Southwestern University, located in Georgetown has an immediate
opening for a Psychologist / Counselor. This position provides
counseling, consultation, crisis intervention, and preventive and
developmental outreach services for students. This is a full-time,
11-month, fully benefited, exempt position who reports to the
Director of Counseling and Health Center.Primary Duties: Conduct
individual, group, relationship, and family counseling.Conduct
developmental and preventive interventions.Consult with students,
faculty, staff, and parents regarding student
welfare.Administrative tasks:Participate in staff meetings.Assist
in writing and editing Counseling Services promotional
materials.Occasionally staff the reception desk.Assist with
on-going evaluation of Counseling Services.Serve on University
committees, etc.Crisis intervention (rotating On-Call).On-going
professional development:Pursue continuing education.Participate in
professional organizations.Coordinate practicum student training,
including clinical supervision, as needed.Perform other duties as
assigned.Position Requirements: PhD (Psychologist) or Master's
(counselor) degree in counseling or clinical
psychology.Demonstrated competence in providing college student
counseling services, including assisting with the specialized
concerns of persons of color, gay men, lesbians, bisexuals,
transgendered persons, persons with disabilities, women, and
men.Possess excellent clinical skills.Ability to work both
independently and as a member of a team.Excellent computer skills
utilizing software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.Demonstrated
leadership skills, including a strong work ethic.Willingness to
adhere to the University's core values.Possess excellent
interaction and communication skills (verbal and written),
including outstanding diplomacy skills.Have knowledge,
understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the
diversity within the campus and community.Demonstrated professional
manner with all internal and external University
constituencies.Ability to be flexible, adjust to fluctuating
priorities, and produce reliable work product.Proven ability to
perform well in stressful situations.Ability and willingness to
travel utilizing standard, commercial, and/or personal modes of
transportation.Understanding and commitment to a liberal arts
education, including the ability to relate to a liberal arts
faculty.Ability to attend work consistently and maintain a regular
work schedule.Ability to work in a typical office environment, with
or without accommodationsPreferred Position Requirements:Three or
more years related experience.Licensed or License-eligible as a
psychologist in the State of Texas.Clinical supervision and
