The House Supervisor - RN facilitates delivery of high-quality,
safe and effective nursing care; to assist in the operation of the
nursing department according to the legal guidelines of mental
health care in the State of Texas to supervise staff activities
according to the hospital's goals and philosophy; to support
nursing staff in interpretation and implementation of policies,
procedures and nursing standards of care. Responsible for
delivering quality general/psychiatric nursing care to patients to
support the hospital and program philosophy of care; to ensure the
safety and well-being of each patient.
- Supervision of patient care services Identifies and oversees
the operation of the nursing program and services necessary to meet
key mental health needs of the community in keeping with the
hospital's philosophy and goals; monitors, evaluates, and assists
in modifying clinical services, utilizing the input and skills of
the nursing staff.
- Maintenance of safe and therapeutic milieu Assumes
responsibility in maintaining a safe, orderly, and therapeutic
physical environment for all patients.
- Working Relationships Establishes and maintain effective
working relationships with physicians and health professional
affiliates, and nursing staff.
- Implementation/Care of the patient The care and treatment of
the patient are rendered in a competent manner and are based on
current chemical dependency and psychiatric nursing knowledge and
standards; care is evaluated against the goals and plan of care and
is revised periodically, as appropriate to the patient.
- Continuum of Care Facilitates the patient's access to the
appropriate level of care and setting.
- Plans and provides nursing care for patients through a
systematic process of interaction with patients, the patient's
significant others, and the appropriate health care providers,
collects and analyzes data regarding the patient's physical,
psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, spiritual,
cultural, and anticipated discharge needs.
- Ensures each patient's unique needs are identified and
incorporated into a comprehensive, individualized care plan
including the severity of the disease, condition,
impairment/disability as important elements of the plan.
- Provides direct care to patients, which includes facilitating
social and emotional needs, supervising medication schedules,
evaluating patient progress and patient's access to the appropriate
level of care and setting.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary professionals to determine
and provide the best possible care for patients.
- Provides social support for patients by creating and
encouraging patients to take advantage of opportunities such as
support groups, social activities and other therapeutic
- Conducts intake assessments through interviews with patients
and relatives to gather case history.
- Makes nursing diagnosis of the medical and emotional status of
patients and recommends treatment options.
- Consults with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff
in designing appropriate treatment plans for clients.
Education and/or Licensure - ADN or BSN from an accredited college
or university. Must be 21 years or older. CPR and Behavior Managing
Program must be obtained within 30 days after hire. Valid Texas RN
license in good standing required.
Experience - A minimum of one (1) year experience of healthcare
management experience preferred; experience in an inpatient mental
health setting at a management level preferred. Clinical
supervision and basic skills in personnel management concepts and
methods; basic teaching or training skills preferred; able to
understand and apply applicable standards and regulations.
Additional Requirements - Must pass a medication administration
exam before administering medications. Must successfully complete
training including restraint and seclusion policies prior to
assuming patient care responsibilities.
$5,000 Sign On Bonus
