_ Job Summary: _The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for developing a strategic approach to the acquisition of materials and the purchase of direct and indirect goods and services. In this leadership role, you will direct the procurement of goods and services for the company; oversee purchasing team members and colleagues with procurement processes, change and updates other procurement-related activities; develop and/or update procurement policies and procedures; and develop a procurement program that will add value and efficiency to the organization. Your team will have tactical responsibility for the development and implementation of policies, procedures and systems that support the company's acquisition and materials management of goods and services.The position will also coordinate with global procurement management with regard to supply chain initiatives. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for the procurement of commodities through the development and implementation of commodity strategies plans and the management of supplier relationship. Responsibilities include contract negotiation, vendor selection, terms and condition review and collaboration activities with production, planning and inventory control. Develop and communicate a procurement business plan; establish, communicate, and implement long-term goals for the department in order to promote effectiveness and efficiencies. Develop, communicate, and administer procurement team performance and development plans and appraisals. Serve as the primary contact for procurement related questions, training, policy and procedure interpretation and alignment by all departments. Oversee contract development and administration, renewal and approval criteria. Develop and oversee supplier performance metric and supplier reporting criteria. Develop and implement procurement-related training programs for the procurement team and organization. Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the market to ensure best value and practices are maintained. Developing a procurement business plan for the organization and ensuring that's it's communicated. Forecasting ongoing demand for goods and services. Researching options to source best value products and services. Forecasting price trends and predicting how they will affect the organization. Running tenders and evaluating bids before making recommendations that make the most commercial sense for the organization. Maintaining the purchasing budget and ensuring best value is maintained. Ensuring contract files are stored and maintained securely and according to legal requirements. Creating and maintaining positive relationships with current and new suppliers. Attending industry trade conferences. Developing strategies to ensure that supplier performance is monitored. Reviewing current contracts to ensure they represent best value. Ensuring procurement sources are secure and sustainable. Manage current procurement policies, procedures and programs with a focus on their ability to enhance organizational value and efficiency; meet regularly with respective departments regarding procurement for their understanding and/or recommendations to enhance policies, procedures and develop, communicate and implement new/revised policies, procedures and programs as needed. Develop a centralized procurement program that adds value and efficiency to the organization. Process purchase orders; develops bids and proposals; and reconcile any invoice discrepancies. Creates and implements KPIs Prepares purchase requisitions, approves and issues purchase orders in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions Discusses defective or unacceptable new goods or services with users, vendors, and others to determine causes of problem and take corrective and preventative action. Establish vendor ratings. Help establish safe inventory levels. Review inventory counts daily to compare with current and upcoming production schedule. Education & Experience: NOTE: Educational requirements must meet acceptable accreditation. For degreed required positions only those with Accreditation Recognized by the Department of Education are accepted. Master's degree in Business, Logistics, or related field 10-15 years of related experience, with at least 3 years of supervisory experience Results-oriented, metrics-driven leader with expertise in purchasing, supplier collaboration, development, and compliance Experience with sourcing and procurement and building a vendor program Strong business skills Strong communication skills Outstanding team building and leadership skills Lean processing Capable of demonstrating leadership qualities in adverse situations Well-developed analytical skills. Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced organization. Evidence of commercial and financial awareness. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to negotiate to achieve best value. Evidence of the ability to work collaboratively. Ability to make important decisions in a pressurized environment. Proven project management skills. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, and the general public.
