SUMMARY: Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation. Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy or production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities. Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility. Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities. May conduct vendor visits to insure quality. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESRequires knowledge typically acquired through:Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from a four year college or university,Five to ten years related experience or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints form customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of the theorems. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
