location in 1979, and it is the only hospital in Georgetown. In

position.) Under the general supervision of the unit?s Director or
designee, the Nurse Manager assumes responsibility for direction
and coordination of all functions in the unit on his/her designated
shifts. In collaboration with other members of the management team,
this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the
quality of patient care services provided in unit. The Nurse
Manager: Assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of
all functions of the designated unit. Functions as a resource
person for staff members and assists in necessary education of
individual members of the nursing staff. Assumes responsibility for
the overall quality of nursing care provided when s/he is on duty.
Makes decisions regarding activities within these areas based on
Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Standards, Human
Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for the unit, in
collaboration with other members of the management team. GENERAL
RESPONSIBILITIES (The essential responsibilities and
accountabilities of this position including interactions with other
departments and outside vendors, if applicable, in PRIORITY order.)
Ensures that Departmental mission and objectives are maintained for
the unit with interpretation of these objectives to staff as
necessary. Coordinates Departmental activities with responsibility
for the assessment of the quality and efficiency of these
activities. Assesses complexity of patient care and Department
service needs to coordinate assignment of nursing staff to meet all
required services on the unit. Ensures implementation of
operational standards which promote the maintenance of patient
rights including, but not limited to: ? ? ? ? ?a. Informed consent.

Explanation of treatment processes. ? ? ? ? ?d. Maintenance of

? ? ? ?procedures. ? ? ? ? ?f. Adaptation of care to all ages of

Handling of patient complaints. ? ? ? ? ?i. Ensures all LVN staff?s
patients records reflect an admission? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Demonstrates sound knowledge base in nursing practice and its
clinical application to the patient population served in the unit,
including the operation of equipment, and policy and procedures
used in the delivery of patient care in the unit. Maintains
communication with other members of the management team regarding
potential/actual problems concerns, and with Medical Staff issues.
Assists with establishing and maintaining communication channels
with Medical Staff and departments in the hospital. Manages
personnel providing direct patient care, with delegation of
activities based on patient care needs and competencies of
available patient care staff. Provides direct and ongoing
supervision of staff with regard to conflict resolution and
personnel policy compliance, including input and/or completion of
performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. Assumes
responsibility for resolving and/or channeling employee grievances
according to appropriate procedures. Teaches, supervises and serves
as a resource for staff, assists with clinical procedures as needed
and facilitates student/preceptor assignments as appropriate.
Assesses need for and assists in implementation of staff
development programs to enhance professional growth of personnel.
Facilitates ongoing performance improvement activities which
correlate to the Hospital-wide Performance Improvement Program with
involvement of all levels of staff as appropriate. Facilitates
staff schedule along with the Director to ensure appropriate
staffing. Assists with development and maintenance of unit budget.
Assists Director in 24/7 coverage of unit including working as an
RN when needed. Addresses and communicates directly with the
director on unit and staff performance issues needing attention.
Maintains effective utilization and maintenance of manpower,
equipment, and supplies. Participates in cost containment programs
as applicable to services provided. Actively participates in
appropriate Department and Hospital committees and ensures that
unit personnel are involved in this process as appropriate.
Maintains own professional growth through appropriate
organizations, workshops, seminars, and other educational
endeavors. Actively participates in leadership development
programs. Maintains awareness of current developments and trends in
nursing practice. Actively supports and monitors national patient
safety goals and standards, core measure, quality and customer
service initiatives. Rounds on staff and patients daily in
cooperation with the Nursing Director. Monitors and maintains high
standards regarding patient care and oversees compliance with core
measures on applicable patients. Keeps PI Data and Streetwise
up-to-date. Aware of current Core Measures, Scan Rates and Patient
Satisfaction Scores. Assumes administrative responsibilities for
the provision of services in collaboration with other members of

duties as assigned. Qualifications EXPERIENCE REQUIRED ?? (Minimum
amount of specifically related experience which is required to

clinical specialty of his/her unit. Other preferred experience: ?
Previous Charge Nurse Experience. Leadership and management
experience. EDUCATION REQUIRED (Minimum formal academic training
which typically provides the knowledge and skills necessary for
successful job performance. Note in Other if experience may be
substituted.) Graduate of accredited nursing school. BSN; MSN
preferred LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Required:? Current Texas RN
license: Required Upon Hire Current BLS certification required as
per SDH policy: Required Upon Hire Current certification for
ACLS/ALS Healthcare Provider: Required within 6 months Current
certification for NRP provider: Required within 6 months Preferred:
