Southwestern University, located in Georgetown, has an immediate opening for a Senior Editor/Writer in the Office of Marketing and Communications department. As part of the MarCom team, the Senior Editor/Writer will develop original and compelling copy for online and offline marketing assets. This position works closely with the creative team members to bring to life the Southwestern brand personality, executing our voice across local regional and national channels with consistency. This is an in-person, full-time, twelve-month position with full benefits. Responsibilities Own the copy voice for the Southwestern University brand, as the gatekeeper of all things written for Southwestern. Manage all copy projects from concept to completion. Ability to manage complex projects, including serving as lead editor for the biannual alumni magazine. Develop compelling, engaging copy for online and offline marketing assets, including but not limited to banner ads, print ads, website content, emails, social media, direct mail pieces, radio ads, commercials and content videos. Serious grammarian and copyeditor. Ability to translate complex topics into compelling stories (long form). Work closely with AVP for Marketing and Communications and team of graphic designers to create new, innovative marketing materials. Utilize market research and surveys and integrate into marketing copy. Occasional writing for the President (Speeches, letters, etc.). Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: Bachelor---s Degree 4-5 years of copywriting experience 4-5 years editing experience in print and online publications Experience in creating engagements, driving leads, and SEO best practices. Experience in utilizing a strong brand identity to drive response. Familiar with standard concepts, best practices for online marketing. Work well under pressure; effectively handle tight deadlines, unexpected delays, revisions, ad hoc requests and changing priorities. Well versed in online media: email, web, social. Strong interpersonal skills, and loves to collaborate with team members. Strong creative problem-solving; ability to interpret analytical thinking into clear, concise copy. Well organized with attention to detail and ability to follow-through. Willing to be the last set of eyes on any piece. Excellent conflict resolution skills and an astute problem-solving ability. Possess the applications of tact, diplomacy, sensitivity, and confidentiality. Ability to attend work consistently and maintain a regular work schedule.
